Blues website is up

July 4, 2010

It’s still crude but it covers what you need to know. We have product, pricing, specs, contact info, etc on there. This stuff is incredibly life like. Haters running their mouths about how we are too cocky trying to box in the same ring with big names; bring it bitchs! Of our main competition I only respect the work of one. Their 3 way sounds like our two way but it costs several hundred more and doesn’t have the solid low end we have. I won’t mention their name, but will say I’d be proud to know we were actually in competition with a legendary name such as them.

Price isn’t our competition, sound quality is. We’ve cleaned house at every competition this year. I’m waiting on a few details to put on the site still. But, I think we had four first place and two second place finishes at Scrapin the Coast. SQ competitors watch your backs. We’re coming for your trophies.

Dealers: You want in on this you contact Ray Rayfield. He’ll get you setup as a dealer (again).

A day spent blowing up stuff

July 4, 2010

It’s a yearly tradition that my wife and I attend (and help host) a fireworks display at a friends RV park for July 4th. This year we kinda ended up with other plans. So we went down a day early. I got some tools back I needed this week, they set off some small stuff, I got to shoot my new Remington 870 Express shotgun. It’s a win/win type thing.

Lets say this: Short barreled home defense shotgun with a synthetic stock firing 12 awg #4 kicks like a donkey. My shoulder will be sore. Unfortunately I found out the gun needs a good deburring and fitting in some places. Cheap Winchester ammo actually jammed the action by expanding in the barrel and preventing the breach block from coming out of lockup. The big picture problem is the ammo, not the burrs we found. I’ll debur everything further and blue it. But cheap ammo just won’t suffice.

Thus is gun ownership I guess. Great fun to shoot either way.

Oh yeah, MS stuff…..

I passed the Microsoft MCP test first try. 800 is good enough to pass and I’ll take it. Store got it’s MS Partner status renewed and we’re on down the road. Yay, that was lame.

Website almost up

April 13, 2010

Like it’s not up already. I have a webserver here in the office but I’m just too lazy to change my habits of using my public webserver for development. Oh well, the main page has a funky url so it will avoid most people looking till I’m ready.

We put the new 6.5” woofers in my Z with the prototype crossovers and a set of tweeters. The car has a realism you do not find in car audio anymore. It will still need a sub for my personal preference. But I’ll probably put a single 8 ohm 8” woofer in ~1ft^3. It doesn’t need much to be incredibly musical.

At this point I need to do some more work to get the soundstage right. It is nice, but not impressive yet. Friend is sending me a mint set of A pillar covers *cough* that I will hack up and glass over *cough*. Shame, but it’s what has to be done.

For anyone that cares; 6.5” component set in doors and A pillars, stock Pioneer dvd head unit, and a modified Linear Power 2202. The sub will probably get driven off a LP952 since I have three modified units on this desk. J Small guys that think they are 9’ tall.

Stupid Microsoft stuff

March 31, 2010

My (daytime) company has to have someone with a MCSE/MCSA cert and a person with desktop MCP to keep our Certified Partner status. Well, we have an MCSE, guess who found out 22 days before we had to renew that he has to pass an MCP Cert test? Yeah this sucks. I’ve spent the last week preparing for this crap while juggling normal duties and my brain hurts. Let’s say this: I was always against MS Certs as a quantifier of knowledge. Now I know why. On the practice tests I have missed questions because I answered the “most likely” scenario incorrectly. Yes, it was a most likely scenario and there is no reason given as to why I would think it is more likely than my answer. Just “It is”. I hate to hurt their feelings but I’m not even sure their “most likely” answer is possible. WTF?

How I hate the word “just”

March 11, 2010

At work my salesman are notorious for saying “I just need you to fix this one little thing”. Anytime a salesman uses the word just there is a long road in your future.

Now I’m trying to perfect the process of moving a forum from phpbb2 to phpbb3. That damn word has popped up again. You JUST remove this and that from the sql file and restore via the web interface. I’ve tried a couple times for over a year to get this thing to work. Now I’m starting to think I need to upload the sql files directly into MySQL via a frontend like phpmyadmin. I like simple solutions, really.

How sad am I?

March 6, 2010

You’d think as an “IT Profesional” I would be on top of all the greatest IT stuff. Well, people seem to think I should. I’ve been reading blogs since they first crept out of the dark recesses of the internet. Yet I’ve never had one till now. Like I said before; I view this as a selfish medium.

Tonight while working on website mastery I realized I needed to keep everyone up to date on my life. Since no one has viewed this blog yet that should be fairly quick.

Sad but true it took me a few minutes to even figure out how to add to the blog. In the process I found the “blog by email” button. OMG I CAN EMAIL TO A BLOG?!?!?!?!wtf? I’m sure I can do it from my Blackberry too. But I am the one person in 500 bazillion crackberry users that is not addicted to the thing.

So back to my selfish endeavors. I started learning html almost 15 years ago. My work reflects this era of learning. The best table I have created for the technical page was created from an Excel spreadsheet saved as an html page and hacked out of the 8 files created. Now I have an html file and a css file. Yeah I found where to change the font colors. But I don’t have any idea what the rest of that crap is so don’t ask me.

Fortunately I’ll have product to sell in less than two weeks. This means I have to finish the damn website and tons of other piddly things you need to sell speakers. Did I mention I don’t have time for this?

Hello world!

February 25, 2010

The quintessential first words shall be “Give me high voltage rock and roll!”

Sitting in my office desperately trying to be creative with my companies website I have resorted to listening to AC/DC Live: 2 CD Collector’s Edition. One of my favorite albums and one of the most entertaining live recordings I have.

Ordinarily I am against this type of media being that it is often used as a medium for self recognition. Sadly, when you are trying to promote your products it suddenly becomes a selfish self promoting mentality that does the best job. Argh…. I guess then this will eventually serve as a starting place for me to indulge a dirty fantasy of self promotion.

Eventually this will mean something:

Code monkey, I am not.
